WELCOME BY THE HEADMISTRESS

Welcome to Umhlanga College, a school with a Christian ethos and a strong sense of community.

A good school treasures its past, values its present and plans for its future. Umhlanga College, an initiative of Durban Girls’ College, opened its doors in 2003 and welcomed 26 pupils. Today there are 558 pupils in the school across all phases: the Play School, Pre School, Foundation Phase and Intermediate Phase.

Set in beautiful countryside surroundings, modern, spacious and equipped with state of the art facilities, the school provides an environment in which all children are encouraged to achieve the best of which they are capable, in all spheres of life. Our aim is to ensure that when our pupils leave for their High School years, they are confident and well prepared intellectually, spiritually and emotionally to face the challenges ahead. We educate Head, Heart and Hands. All the children are encouraged to use their initiative and also to work as a member of a team.

We are committed as a school to giving strong pastoral care, providing the best possible facilities and fostering academic excellence. Sport plays an important role in the holistic education of every child and the importance of Arts and Culture is also deemed as vital in their development.

We pride ourselves on the happy atmosphere at Umhlanga College as well as the individual attention afforded to each pupil by our dedicated and committed teachers. We look forward to meeting you. Everyday is open day at Umhlanga College.
