HISTORY

Umhlanga College is a Co-Educational initiative of Durban Girl's College, a school with 125 years of educational excellence, whose management recognises the importance of providing a top co-educational school in the fast growing Umhlanga Ridge area.

Umhlanga College was founded in 2003 and has since expanded into an extraordinary success story. Under the direction of Mrs Margo Reid and supported by Durban Girls' College, the school has flourished.

Set in the countryside, on what was formerly Burnside Estate on the Umhlanga Ridge; the school' grounds are nestled amongst magnificent indigenous trees and surrounded by sugar cane. Its tranquil setting is conducive to learning and outdoor activities, with beautiful old trees and an abundant bird life.

The school includes Ken Mackenzie Junior Primary School, named after our benefactor, the late Mr Ken Mackenzie; the Robert Muir Playschool, named after benefactor Mr Robert Muir and more recently a state of the art Senior Primary School.
